Why I bathe in ice water?
Many people ask me why I do crazy things like taking ice baths and plunging in ice water (like in Antarctica), so I thought I’d
If there was ever a time when we need to do our best, this is it. We all know the impact we have on our planet and its future: climate change, natural disasters, endangered species, just to name a few. However, we continue to make the situation worse, faster than ever. We are destroying our planet!
What we have to do to change course is already known. The science is in. The technology is in.
The real problem is not finding solutions; the real challenge is to communicate the key messages from science and technology to the people in a way that inspires real change. So, here’s where I come in.
After finishing my PhD in biochemistry, I realized that my true passion is to communicate scientific knowledge in a way that makes an impact on people’s behavior. I became a scientific communicator and a Traveler Scientist. I have been communicating scientific knowledge about health optimization as well as teaching scientists how to communicate their findings more efficiently. I motivated and inspired a change in many people. But, something was still missing.
Since 2018, I have the opportunity to be part of a growing network of women scientists from all around the world and use my voice to create change.
I became a scientist because I wanted to make an impact in the world, and now I have that chance.
I was selected as 1 of the 100 women who will be part of Homeward Bound, a global leadership program for women in science that culminates with a 3-week trip to Antarctica, one of the most vulnerable places on Earth to climate change. The ultimate goal of Homeward Bound is to create a network of 1,000 women leaders equipped with the tools and skills to make the change our planet needs. And, I feel extremely honored for this opportunity! As the program’s motto says “Mother Nature needs her daughters,” and, I am here for her!
I want to invite you to be part of this journey of empowerment, discovery and transformation.
If there was ever a time when we need to do our best, this is it.
As a passionate scientific communicator, I feel the need to be the bridge between science and people, to translate complex scientific knowledge into applicable everyday solutions.
My participation in Homeward Bound will help me become a braver leader for a better world and work to make our planet a healthier and more sustainable home.
Although they represent 45% of the global workforce, women are globally underrepresented in leadership positions. This is despite the fact that women comprise 57% of recent university graduates.
By providing training in leadership and strategic skills, along with a solid understanding of science and a collaborative network, we can increase our ability to generate impact on policies and decision making for a sustainable future.
Antarctica shows the fastest consequences to some of the global sustainability problems we face today. It offers an unprecedented opportunity to observe first-hand the influence of human activities on the environment and provide critical information on the necessary change on a global scale.
This iconic environment has captured the imagination of leaders in the past and the component of the Antarctic expedition of Homeward Bound creates a great impact and strong links between the participants.
If not now, when? The sustainability of our planet is in crisis as well as the state of leadership in the world. Homeward Bound aims to contribute to these two global problems.
This will be an experience of a lifetime, but it will require a lot of courage and support. Each of the women participating in the program need to raise approximately US $ 18,000 to cover the costs of the trip to Antarctica, and I need your help!
Your support will:
It’s not about me or the 99 women who will share this journey with me. It’s about all of us. It is about changing our paradigms and empowering the next generation of leaders to create a sustainable future for us and our children.
You can support my participation in Homeward Bound by making a donation, as big or small as you can on my crowdfunding page and by sharing my message with your friends, family, co-workers and in your social networks.
If this message reaches 18,000 people and each person donates $1, I will have reached my goal!
Many people ask me why I do crazy things like taking ice baths and plunging in ice water (like in Antarctica), so I thought I’d
When you think of optimizing your health, sleep should be the first on your list. I’ve been biohacking my sleep for the past few years
It’s not a secret that I love travelling. And, I also want to protect this planet, and to enjoy its beauties. Also, I always travel
